Job Summary: The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of the building. This position involves extensive interaction with on-site staff and residents, and some interaction with vendors and contractors.

Location: Chinatown neighborhood, San Francisco
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Friday - Sunday , 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m.
Salary: $22.62 to $23.81 per hour; Comprehensive benefits

Essential Functions
- Maintain the general cleanliness of the building interior and exterior and adhere to the cleaning schedule
- Clean, sweep, mop hallways, common areas (including kitchen, restrooms, laundry rooms), sidewalks, and individual units when they are vacant
- Inform Maintenance Lead of any security, safety, health code violations you observe
- Maintain trash removal systems including rotation of garbage, recycling, and composting receptacles
- Assist Maintenance Lead with light maintenance projects, pest control, or annual unit inspections as requested
Job Responsibilities
- Follow directives and cleaning schedules outlined by the Maintenance Lead
- Clean exterior of building, including alley spaces and light wells
- Clean all interior walls in the common areas, including unit doors
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work area and trash collection room or chute
- Sweep and mop all uncarpeted areas of building: lobby, kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room, etc
- Vacuum all carpeted common areas of building: lobby, hallways, stairways, etc.
- Clean all glass doors and windows of lobby and common areas
- Sweep and mop front sidewalk of building
- Empty trash containers in all common areas and handle recycling
- Clean all aspects of common kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms lobby and vacant tenant rooms (if applicable)
- Assist with pest control as requested
- Stock restroom supplies and clean out light bulb covers
- Clean carpets and refinish floors periodically
- Wax floors and shampoo carpets per cleaning schedule
- Attend and participate in building and department meetings and trainings
- Log all information or duties performed on work order request form
- Assist Maintenance Lead and/or Property Manager as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Ability to use all janitorial equipment including, but not limited to: carpet shampooer, floor buffer, vacuum, etc.
- Knowledge of how to safely handle chemicals and custodial tools
- Careful attention to detail
- Ability to work with people of diverse economic, social and ethnic backgrounds
- Willingness to do a variety of tasks
Minimum Qualifications
- Two (2) years of building janitorial experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with residential custodial work
- Ability to read and write basic English
