Job Summary: The Resident Services Coordinator -youth and families, provides support to the diverse residents living at Tenderloin Family Housing, with a focus on youth and families. The position requires a motivated and resourceful individual who is sensitive to residents' needs; has excellent service coordination, team building and group facilitation skills; and thrives in a relatively independent work environment in a team setting with other providers. This position works within a trauma-informed care model utilizing best practices and recognizes the impact of the social environment and the importance of community to improve an individuals’ quality of life. This position will be responsible for coordinating & initiating educational and social programs for youth at Tenderloin Family (i.e, tutoring program; monthly art and engagement activities); orienting residents to Youth Services, helping to identify services/programs that best fit their needs; coordinating youth leadership services with internal departments and community organizations; assisting other CBOs in programing and outreach; building partnerships with organizations that have children/youth programs; provide information and referral helping residents in need of higher care coordination including APS, CPS, and clinical support; utilize clinical techniques such as de-escalation and motivational interviewing; and recruiting and managing skilled volunteers to enhance the quality of programming. standards and objectives.

Hours: Work from home eligible, Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m, plus some nights and weekends

General Job Responsibilities:
- Provide resident-centered direct services such as general information, light case management, referrals, translation/interpretation assistance and service connections to local social service and government agencies
- Collaborate with Resident Services team members to create, implement, lead and evaluate programming/activities/events at TFH including a focus on health & wellness, educational workshops, and resident empowerment.
- Initiate, organize, & coordinate educational and social programs for youth
- Create youth programs to accommodate the needs, like job readiness, summer activities, tutoring, youth field trips, youth empowerment, summer /school breaks programs.etc..
- Promote multicultural youth leadership development; identify, recruit, and retain youth leaders by offering learning opportunities to strengthen youth leadership skills through youth-led projects and community services
- Meet with City Departments and CBOs, like the Boys and Girls Club, regularly to update program status, assess families and youth’ need and develop plans to ensure needs are met; discuss case plans and progress; assist in programming and outreach
- Work with parents and youth to address the needs and issues youth are facing; develop plans that set positive short-term and long-term goals
- Offer mentorship to youth in need of assistance to assure that youth are socially and academically prepared for the next educational milestone
- Develop on-going cooperative network and partnerships with internal/external youth service groups
- Work with the Clinical Director to assess residents in need of more clinical support, referring them to the in-house Wellness Team or Interdisciplinary Care Team when applicable.
- Coordinate with comprehensive crisis team, APS and CPS when needed
- Work with property staff and residents to develop and implement activities and systems that promote safety and security
- Educate and/or link residents to community/neighborhood projects that impact their quality of life, so they may provide input
- Complete administrative functions such as case notes, intake, and data entry in RS database and other paperwork as needed
- Gather, track and provide information for city mandated reporting

Minimum Qualifications:
- Academic qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education or related field and two (2) years of experience in providing direct services in the form of information, referrals, and/or linkages to community and public resources to low-income populations and one (1) year of experience in developing, organizing, and implementing group activities, or
- High school diploma or GED and a combination of five (5) years of experience in providing direct services in the form of information, referrals, and/or linkages to community and public resources to low-income populations as well as experience in developing, organizing, and implementing group activities
- Experience working with youth and their families
- Knowledge of community resources and services, with particular emphasis on Tenderloin area.
- Experience in community-building and leadership empowerment, especially working with culturally diverse populations
- Knowledge of, and sensitivity to, the needs of low-income population
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to community organizing as a tool to increase resident engagement and leadership development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Biliterate in English and Arabic , or Spanish, or Chinese, or Vietnamese
- Knowledge of local resources and public benefits assistance
- Experience delivering services to resident communities
- Experience working with on-site Property Management to promote community wellness
